Yesterday, India celebrated Teachers day. When I was a student, that was a good day to polish and pamper teachers that I liked. Teachers who made difference to my outlook to studies and subjects. Teachers who made me get my vision today. This includes everywhere from school to college.
But when time passed by and I became a businessman, I forgot even the concept. I didn't find any relevance to it, apart from just a "feel good" phrase. Oh Come on, what so special about teachers? They were just doing their duty and they have got the appreciation they deserve. Be it the pay or the affection.
But, today my perspective have altered. Blessed are those students, who now know their teacher's mobile phone numbers. With just by forwarding a sms, into the group they have saved as teachers, they can really fast communicate to those teachers that they feel are worthy of their gratitude. And the difference it makes to the teachers that receive them are just too huge.
After three years of teaching, yesterday; I received a few sms, from some of my favorite students. One name amongst the senders, was not that familiar to me. But still; the impact that all of those sms, is just out of the world. All of the senders are either working or doing their PG. I felt pampered, proud and also privileged. Each of those sms that ended with happy Teachers day generated the same feeling of my 4 year old son wishing me my birthday on phone.
